Heart Center of Northern Arizona - Verde Valley Medical Center
Welcome to the Heart Center at VVMC, a
full-service, healthy heart program providing prevention, diagnostics,
treatment and rehabilitation for the Central Arizona community.
VVMC has made exciting advances in locally offered cardiology services
over the past several years. The hospitals first Cardiac Catheterization
Laboratory, which opened in 1999, was the essential first step in
developing the life-saving cardiac interventional program which exists
today.
Cardiologists perform catheterizations to diagnose narrowing and
blockages in coronary arteries. Interventional cardiologists use that
information to precisely target the arteries to be opened by balloon
and/or stent angioplasty.
At VVMC, interventional cardiologists, supported
by an extensive professional team of nurses, technicians and other staff
members, provide 24-hours-a-day, seven-days-a-week coverage for
emergency catheterization and coronary intervention.
The intervention program is further supported by VVMC's onsite medically
dedicated helicopter, Angel 3. During interventional procedures, Angel 3
stands by ready to transport patients if necessary.
In June 2002, VVMC opened a new $2.8 million Cardiac Catheterization
Laboratory suite. The lab features a General Electric Innova 2000 ™
Digital Cardiac System, the next generation in cardiac catheterization
imaging. Images are completely digital, allowing premier resolution of
the coronary arterial system, while minimizing radiation to patients.
VVMC also offers an extensive list of non-invasive cardiology studies
and procedures. Non-invasive cardiology procedures currently being
performed at VVMC include: EKG, 24 hour holter monitors, event monitor,
stress testing (including stress echo and nuclear stress), cardiac
ultrasound/echocardiogram and transesophageal echocardiogram. |
